Let's Just Stop Asking Women If They're Pregnant, OK?

Some Vanderpump Rules fans have Katie Maloney-Schwartz pregnant for years now.

Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz will celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary in a few weeks, but everybody wants to jump ahead. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes ... shut up about it already!

The Vanderpump Rules SURver took to Twitter to shut down everyone who is pressuring her to have babies now now now — oh, and asking if she’s already pregnant? Rude.

"I have been getting congratulations for being pregnant for nearly 2 years but have not received a single present. Smh," she wrote.

Let’s let Katie and Tom tell us the good news themselves when — and if — it happens. We really shouldn't be asking women if they're pregnant, for a number of reasons.

Although Katie takes it in stride, not every woman will. One, they may not be pregnant, and you’ve just asked them if they are. Now they feel like crap.

“Both of you would feel uncomfortable when you asked the question and she has to explain she is not,” says national etiquette expert Diane Gottsman.

Two, maybe they are struggling, and have been struggling a long time, with getting pregnant.

“Asking a stranger when they are ‘due’ assumes they look as if they are expecting. Assuming someone is pregnant could be insulting to a woman who may be struggling with weight or have a medical condition,” Gottsman says.

If you can’t help yourself (even on Twitter) remember this rule from Gottsman: “Unless someone offers the information, don’t ask. Even if you are curious, err on the side of caution.”

Did we really have to tell you that?
